Named for Mary, Mother of God (Mater Dei), a nurturing spirit pervades all elements of College life.
Mater Dei students are nurtured to be wise, loving, spirited young people, inspired to seek knowledge and wisdom throughout their lives and to understand the value of belonging, as part of a community.
As a Catholic school in the traditions of Nano Nagle and Edmund Rice, we strive to live lives modelled on their examples. The goals of a Mater Dei education are in essence the same as the goals of our founders: the spiritual, intellectual and social development of the individual, and the preparation of students to take their place in the society in which they live as well as to achieve their ultimate goal, the knowledge and love of God.
Our outstanding teachers support and challenge our students so that they flourish as independent and critical learners who are able to achieve outstanding results. Mater Dei students are educated to be people of faith, developing positive relationships with each other, striving to “Live God’s Message”, as Mary did.
As a part of a rapidly changing world which presents both challenges and opportunities, our students are empowered to own their future by equipping them to be dynamic and flexible thinkers. The College is well resourced and we place an emphasis on the critical use of technology to support learning. We strive to develop confident young people who are highly successful learners, joyful and spirited, curious and reflective and who are inspired to offer loving and responsible service.
Mater Dei’s learning environment promotes confident young people, creative and critical thinkers with problem solving skills that they apply to significant issues in our world. It is an environment that nurtures the development of learners who are collaborative, resilient, adaptable, and innovative with excellent communication skills. We believe that young people find fulfilment through the pursuit of these ambitions. Ultimately, every parent wishes that their child will be happy and successful.
Parent involvement is encouraged and supported and we promote parents as partners in the education of their daughters and sons.
I’m proud of this community and hope that you enjoy learning more about it as you explore our website.
